Aus Köln Grüße! This photo was taken in 1960 in Köln (Cologne), Germany, with a Brownie Hawkeye box camera on Kodak 620 film (6cm square negatives, about 2¼"). The glossy 4"×4" print was scanned on a Hewlett-Packard Scanjet G4050 to a JPG file in 2017. The PARAMS file for this gallery does not contain a 'charset' parameter, so Photogallery looked at the contents of this text file, koelncathedral.txt and determined that (unlike index.txt) the German phrase at the beginning of this text is encoded in ISO-8859-1 (Latin Alphabet 1), rather than UTF-8 like the Index file. So even though this page and the index page have different text encodings they both display correctly. See this section of the Photogallery manual for more information on this topic.
