[In response to a query about good Telnet applications for OS/2...]

Have you tried Kermit 95 for OS/2? The name is a bit, hmmm, but it is the follow-up to C-Kermit 5A (191) for OS/2, native OS/2 code, command line (VIO) interface, and makes telnet in an OS/2 vio window actually usable: You get

• scroll back buffer (with bookmarking and searching),
• mouse support for cut-n-paste,
• configurable colours,
• fully configurable keyboard mapping,
• fast and stable file transfer (xyz modem, of course, kermit, and a few more) _even_ over tcp/ip connexions, it is _so_ nice to be able to type a quick 'sz filename' when online via a tcp/ip connexion rather than having to ftp, login, etc.!
• recovery of file transfers, i.e. when the first 1.8 out of 1.85 MB got through you can resume right there and don't have to start over
• terminal emulations more than I can remember (vt52, vt100, vt102, ...) and better than any I have seen except maybe a room full of different genuine VT and Wyse and ... terminals
• fully scriptable (kermit is the scriptable telnet / ftp solution)
• works for dial up and tcp/ip (slip/ppp/real ethernet, whatever) alike
• shares the same user interface, scripts, etc. with kermit on UNIces, VAXes, main frames, and all, so you're at home right away
• supports odd screen resolutions (I use 43 lines all the time, and 43x100 sometimes)
• comes with a 600+ page book on connexions, modems, data transfer details and on using kermit on any platform, plus an 80+ page booklet dealing with the particular features for Kermit 95 on OS/2 (and also on Winblows 94.8321 or so )
• is bloody fast
• has a GUI dialer for dial-up that some love more than the scripting stuff (which I prefer),
• costs something like 45 US\$ or so

I would like to say that as a current owner of Kermit-95 for OS/2, it does indeed work well with scoansi, wy60, at386 and vt220. It does many others, I just dont use em. I will give an opinion, that while this is not and may never be the flashiest communication product for OS/2, it is by far the must usable one I have ever seen for connecting to unix systems and doing day to day real life things.
