Williamsbridge Oval 80th Anniversary
The 80th Anniversary of Williamsbridge Oval Park was celebrated by
Commissioner Rosa-Rodriguez, Assemblyman Dinowitz, Representatives for
Councilmember Cohen, Community Board 7 chair Adaline Walker and of course
patrons of the park. We had about 100 people attend. There was arts and
crafts where kids made Birthday cards for the park. There was 1930s games
like checkers, hopscotch, and jump rope. There was also displays of the
history, present and future plans for the park.
We were grateful for the wonderful performance of the tap dance group from St. Mary's Recreation Center lead by Eligah Voyd. They were amazing. Eligah also did a solo performance and taught the group how to do some tap dance moves.
Commissioner Rosa-Rodriguez accepted a plaque that will be hung on the recreation center that commemorates the history of the park. We were also lucky to have the Bronx Historian Lloyd Ultan who spoke about the history of the park.
Thank you for all the support from Friends of Williamsbridge Oval Park and Frank da Cruz who helped organize the event. Thank you Tony Rosa and District 7 for preparing the park. Thank you to Jerome Gun Hill BID and Councilmember Cohen's office who provided funds to purchase supplies for the event. Thank you to the Commissioner Rosa-Rodriguez and political figures for attending. The patrons really enjoyed the day and especially the cake.
